Princeton Jazz Ensemble Takes Center Stage at The Redmoor
The Princeton High School Jazz Ensemble stole the spotlight at The Redmoor on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, delivering an unforgettable performance that left the audience in awe. Under the direction of Todd Leonhardt, these young musicians captivated a sold-out crowd, setting the stage for an evening of musical excellence. The student ensemble opened the night with a high-energy set that featured stunning renditions of classics from Earth, Wind & Fire and the Doobie Brothers. With most of the attendees outside the Princeton school community, the band’s electrifying showcase proved their reach and impact extended far beyond their school walls. The night’s headline act, the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra (CCJO), followed the student performance with a special tribute to the legendary band Chicago. Featuring Walfredo Reyes Jr., Chicago’s third-ever drummer, the CCJO delivered an innovative set that reimagined classics like “Saturday in the Park” and “25 or 6 to 4” with a Latin flair. For the students, this performance was more than just another concert—it was the experience of a lifetime. The compliments they received from professional musicians and audience members alike reinforced the strength of Princeton City School District’s music program and the remarkable talent of its young performers.
